Broward Marine is a Fort Lauderdale-based yacht building company. It was established in 1948 by Frank Denison when he purchased Dooley’s Dry Dock and renamed in Broward Marine, which specialized in servicing and repairing boats.
In 1953, Broward Marine began building wooden yachts, and during World War II and the Korean War, Broward Marine obtained government shipbuilding contracts. After the conclusion of the wars, Broward Marine began building custom yachts.
Through the 70s and 80s, Broward’s range of services expanded from construction to service, maintenance, and full refits. Over the course of the company’s history, and through the hands of several owners, the yard has launched approximately 300 yachts. These vessels are popular on both the sale and charter market.
In 1999 Broward Marine was sold to Glenn Straub and later to a group headed up by Ed Hawes, and renamed Broward Yachts. The company is still operational in Dania, Florida and continues to build and service megayachts in South Florida.
